The cell phone community has been in love with the Android OS since 2007. Since then the Android system has gone through several updates and upgrades. Now the Android operating system software is competing quite well against the other OS softwares that are out there. The Blackberry and iPhone are no longer the only competing smart phones on the market. With the Android phones and operating system getting more popular by the minute, we thought we would check out the history of the system and see what we could learn. Here are some things you might not already know about Android phones and the operating system.
Android smartphones are now selling like hot cakes because of applications like cell phone monitoring software as well as others
One website says that Google is not actually the original creator of the Android OS. We are very aware of the fact that Google is given all of the credit for creating this OS and these phones. In fact many people simply call them "Google phones" when they are checking them out. The Android OS is actually invented by Andy Rubin and Rich Miner (at least, according to our research). They created the system in 2003 and then sold it to Google for a hefty sum. Even though they bought it in 2003, they didn't release it right away and, instead, chose to spend a few years on further developments so that it would be better prepared for the mobile market. Phones that use the Android OS are beginning to outsell iPhones. The Android is outselling the iPhone by quite a lot in six states. Unfortunately, the study might be skewed by the fact that those six states are more rural and probably sell more Android phones because the states don't have very good AT&T service. AT&T is currently the only iPhone carrier so that might skew those numbers. The study will probably be redone if AT&T loses it's exclusive contract with the iPhone and more carriers start to carry the unit.
Would you believe us if we told you that the Android operating system is based on the Linux system? People who do not want to use Windows or the current Mac OS use Linux (an open source alternative). There are rumors that this is why Google was so interested in the system. Everybody knows that Google and Microsoft are rivals. Is it any wonder that they would snap up a system that was based after one of the main challengers to the Windows system? People like Linux because its open source standing means that everyone is welcome to develop the system, upgrade it and find new uses for it. This helps keep operating costs low and profits high.
It did not use to be hard to choose your next cell phone. You probably simply took whatever upgrade you could get for free from your cell phone provider. Now you choose your provider based on its available phones. The good news is that, for smart phone fans, the Android OS lets you have the phone you want without having to take the provider into consideration. Isn't that just music to your ears?
